2010 Warehouse Expansion
In 2009 the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank responded to the limits of an at-capacity warehouse and office facility with a plan to expand.
Food Bank leadership rallied teams of community volunteers to the goal of raising $1.1 million for the Warehouse Expansion Capital Campaign. The campaign concluded in January 2010, and construction began in March 2010. An Open House for the expansion was held in December 2010. The project doubled the warehouse area, expanded office space, and tripled refrigeration capacity for fresh produce and perishables. An emergency back-up generator also was added.
Thanks to a compassionate community and to an accomplished architectural and general contracting team, the Food Bank now has the capacity to be more responsive to partner agencies and to better accommodate the growing volunteer base.
